Delhi Assam Roadways Corporation Ltd. (DARCL) is one of the
largest transport and logistics companies in India with a
turnover of over of Rs.1000 Crores(Unaudited) in current financial year 2007-08 from Rs.
719 Crores last fiscal.Started off as a family
enterprise in the sixties, the company has grown in stature over the
years and has become a reputed Public Limited company. DARCL
clientele includes Reliance Logistics Jindal group, Vedanta Group,
TATA STEEL, Aditya Birla Group, MARICO, USHA MARTIN, Bharat Shell,
ASHAI GLASS, Castrol, and host of other Blue chips of Private Sector
and Navaratnas of public sector viz., ONGC, IOC, BPCL, HPCL, BHEL,
GAIL; other PSUs HINDUSTAN COPPER, NALCO, MARUTI UDYOG, HAL etc.
besides other Government of India organizations CSD, Diesel
Locomotive, Ordnance Depot.

DARCL now has more
ambitious plans and is all set to introduce Multi-modal Transportation.
Under this model, DARCL customers can enjoy the advantage of
transportation through rail as well as Barges/ships. Current Expansion
plans in the anvil are running of container trains towards multi modal
operations. On 04.01.2007, the company signed an agreement with Indian
Railways. As per the terms of agreement the company has the right to
operate its container trains to / fro Indian ports viz. Kandla, New
Mangalore, Marmugao (on the west coast), Tuticorin, Haldia, Kolkata &
Paradeep (on the east coast) for EXIM traffic, besides domestic traffic
all over the country except on Mumbai/JNPT, Delhi NCR route.
With the introduction of Container Trains, DARCL expects to
provide cost effective solutions to its valued customers and for this
purpose TRANSRAIL division also stand created. |
